A chairde
I am writing to thank you for your continued support; to update you on Club Aontroma’s progress in recent months; and to give some information on our renewed focus going forward.
We have had discussion and consultation with the wider Antrim GAA family to agree the best way to ensure that Club Aontroma and ONE ANTRIM makes a positive difference to the future of Gaelic Games in our County.
A Renewed Focus: Our Players Our Future
Together we agree that our focus must be on player development with a particular focus on our underage players. Providing positive and practical support at underage level will ensure that those working with our up and coming talent have the support available to ensure we have teams ready to compete at the highest possible level. Likewise it means that players have access to the very best expertise we can provide in terms of coaching, strength and conditioning and in areas such as lifestyle guidance and nutrition.
Already
we are seeing the benefits of this approach with our young hurlers and
footballers turning in performances recently which are a real credit to this
county.
They have been prepared to the best possible level and have performed and
achieved results against the top hurling counties because we have invested
time, resources and personnel and most of all – belief - in their ability. They
have returned this investment so far with a series of impressive results.
During the course of this year we have continued to support our games with funding provided towards the following:
- Antrim Cup – under age Hurling tournament in Antrim in May 2014
- Minor Football and Hurling Squads for additional training activity
- Senior Hurlers Golf Classic
- Senior Footballers to aid preparations for USF semi-final
- Antrim Camogie Association
- Antrim Ladies Football Association (under discussion at present)
All of this is in addition to the £250,000 that Club Aontroma has invested in Antrim GAA over recent years.
Member Benefits
- We have held four quarterly draws over the first year of the ONE ANTRIM scheme, with all the winners being notified and the results posted on the Club Aontroma and County websites.
- In addition to this we offered the added bonus to our members of an exclusive draw for All Ireland tickets for Football and Hurling Finals. This will continue based to the allocation that the County are able to make to ONE ANTRIM.
- We have also made contributions (c. £1,000) to a small number of clubs who have delivered more than the agreed 20 members – this is a vital source of funds for these clubs many of whom are finding finance difficult at this time.
Moving Forward
We think this is an appropriate time to revisit the draws and offer a better solution to our members. Therefore the Trustees have decided that we will move to a more substantial Annual Draw which will take place in December – possibly at county convention or other suitable location / occasion.
We will supplement this with a bonus draw in late summer / early autumn. Obviously, as a members scheme, the more people are involved the greater the prizes, both in terms of prizes in the draws and the real prize which is the investment we can make in the future of our games.
Our Future Our Antrim GAA
We all want a better future for our games in Antrim. We all want successful county teams in football, hurling, camogie and handball. To succeed we need to invest in our future.
We are grateful for the support you have given so far; we look forward to your continued support; and we encourage you to help promote ONE ANTRIM and encourage more supporters of Antrim GAA to come on board.
Our young players deserve the opportunity to be the best they can be. Our vision is for county teams taking the field, proud to be wearing our famous Saffron jersey, knowing they have the full backing of the County.
Together we can and will succeed – Is Feidir Linn
