South Antrim Football Division One
St Teresa's v St Enda's - 7.15pm Glen Road
The final Thursday night South Antrim Division One game was a crucial
one for the Naomh Treasa outfit, knowing that beating the Hightown men
would give them the title.
The home side started the brightest with a good opening movement from
Kieran McCormick and Stevie O'Hara combining with Emmet Sands to put
young Liam Gault through for the opening point. The advatange was soon
two points, when Kevin McLaughlin and Gault gave
a good ball to Conor McCann whose darting run seen him fouled and full
forward, Arder Mooney ,scored the resultant free. Full back McLaughlin
was again involved in the Super-Tees third point when he started a good
passage of play with Brendy Power and PaddyDugan Jnr. Mooney scored for the resultant free. St Enda's scored their
first point before another sweeping move form St Teresa's involving
O'Hara and Declan McKiernan to gift a great ball to unmarked Power who
cooly slotted over from 25 yards. St Enda's
responded again with another point before Mooney scored his third point
following great work from McCann, O'Hara, McCormick and Gault. 0-5 to
0-2 with 15 mins gone. Another attacked started by McLaughlin set Sands
up for another good score. Another score soon
followed from Duggan following great work from Power and Ciaran
Murtagh. St Enda's responded with a great individual effort from their
half back. Again Super tees responded with another powerful move,
involving Odhran O'Neill, O'Hara and Gault before Power
struck a sweet point with his left foot. 0-8 to 0-3 the St Teresa's men
led and in the next attack, Murtagh was unlucky to see a rasping shot
rebound off the post. Another point from the Hightown men followed
before an impressive 8 man move, started by Dominic
Adams in the full back line, ended with a fine individual point from
Dugan.

St Teresa's started the second half full of the winning spirt and an
excellent ball from McKiernana found McCann unmarked and he scored a
sweet point from 35 yards. The homeside then seemed to fall asleep as St
Enda's stepped up a gear. Two points in quick
sucession followed and then a long ball caused confusion in the St
Teresa's defence allowed St Enda's to score a well deserved goal. 0-10
to 1-6 and the visitors sensed party spoiler mode. McCormick, McLaughlin
and O'Hara were controlling the defence and they
were the instigators of the next three Super Tees scores; McCann and
Duggan combined well to set up Mooney for a point, followed by a super
individual effort from Adams, following a blistering run down the right
flank. The ever youthful O'Hara scored a fine
point following great work from Gault. 0-13 to 1-6 the Glen Road men
led. St Enda's to their credit never gave up the fight and two more
points from them reduced the deficit to 5. In the gathering gloom, St
Teresa's struck for glory. McKiernan, Murtagh and
O'Neill combined with the energetic Mooney for Mooney to score this
fifth point, before a great ball from Power found young McCann in the
box who held onto the ball and blasted it to the back of the net. 1-14
to 1-8. Mooney scored another point before young
Sands rifled a 25 yarder to the back of the net. Cue the celebrations!
O'Hara then pointed the final ball of the game following good play from
McCormick and O'Neill. The "Heavy Belly" managers of Sands and Maguire
can reflected on a long summer of Thursday
nights with great satisfaction.
